Evrett, Quaid, and Bellini hang from the rafters like sling-bound pinatas. Ward and Nicaste move between their grease-covered cheeks. Ward sinks one arm to the elbow inside Quaid and rams his other fist into Evrett. Nicaste works Bellini with a steady hand, then steps in when Ward pulls out of Evrett. The stretch of leather, the slap of skin, the pull of ropes overhead. Bodies sway in the open air. Sweat runs down their backs. Nicaste drives deeper, hits his edge, and spills.
